Catechesis
Ablaze catechetical service will primarily involve the gathering of scripture quotes and quotes from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and/or quotes from Church Fathers or Saints which will be used in short teachings during upcoming Ablaze. Those involved in this service will be responsible for prayerfully putting together a one page handout for God's faithful. This ministry also involves the recording of testimonials after each Ablaze.
God became man in order to crush the serpents head (the sin of pride) and pay the age-old debt of sin. Christ is humility personified! Sin is a serious offense against Almighty God. God, who is infinitely in love with each of us. He created us purely from love, to receive his love, and share his love! Sin interrupts this beautiful exchange.
Romans 6:23 says, "The wages of sin is death." No human being is capable of paying the debt of sin because no human being is capable of destroying death. This is precisely why the word Gospel means "Good News." Jesus Christ is the God-Man who destroys sin and death! In 1 Corinthians 15:55 we read, "Where O death is your victory? Where O death is your sting?"
Because of the severity of sin, God alone can help us. He alone can save us! Jesus Christ is the just sacrifice and payment for our sins. It is truly knowing this truth that gives birth to a true gratitude in our hearts! Christ alone gives the Father what is due to Him, namely, perfect love! This is why in 1 John 4: 18 we read, "There is no fear in love. But perfect love cast our fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love." Only in Christ are we able to truly please the Father. This is precisely what our baptism is! We are baptized into Christ and we are asked to give Christ permission to continue his life of serving the Father through us! This grace is then strengthened at our confirmation! It is all about living the Mass-- The Holy Eucharist! At Ablaze we seek to enter more fully into the sacrifice of Jesus Christ -- the sacrifice of praise! O Lord inebriate us with an attitude of gratitude! Stir into flame the graces of each of our baptism and confirmation!
Sin gets in the way of God's will for our lives. His will is that we allow him to live his life through us for the salvation of souls and the glory of the Father! Christ gave his Church confession in order that we might each experience the miracle of his divine mercy. Please take time to prepare for confession by examining your conscience! Confession allows all the many graces offered to us in Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Holy Matrimony, Holy Orders to flow more freely into our humanity. It is through Christ's humanity that we now have a share in his divinity. Every sacrament is an immersion of our humanity into his divinity.
The Lord Jesus established his Church on Earth in order to continue his mission to lead all people into Heaven. We are a very important part of that glorious plan of God. How many do not know and have never been invited to accepted the sacrifice of Christ for their sins?
